Born in Germany, drummer Felix Schlarmann (1982) today lives and works in Amsterdam.
There he graduated from his Jazz-drums studies in 2007. Felix Schlarmann continued his studies as a master student of Martijn Vink at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and of John Riley at the Manhattan School of Music New York and received his master degree with an outstanding result in 2009.
Next to the Felix Schlarmann Group he plays with the dutch powerjazz formation BRUUT! with who he performed on the North Sea Jazzfestival, Tokyo Jazz Festival and many other international festivals.
He also is a member of Køgging, a new project feat. Jasper Blom called Mechanical Duck and several other formations.
As a big band drummer Felix Schlarmann worked with some of the best Dutch Jazz Orchestras like the Millenium Jazz Orchestra and the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra.
In 2009 he was a teacher at the International Summer Jazz Workshop in Prague. Several compositions for percussion are published in the Gretel Verlag, Germany. At Amsterdam’s venue Studio /K Felix Schlarmann runs his own monthly session Jazz in /K, which features the finest Dutch jazz artists.
Felix also is the founder and musical director of the Festival Jazzfest Amsterdam.
